I struggled with binge eating for over 20 years of my life.
I tried everything to find a sustainable way of eating, diets, cheat meals, macro counting, fasting, calorie counting, clean eating Monday to Friday.
But the same thing always happened. It started with feeling awful about my body, then vowing:
"Okay, the strict eating plan starts tomorrow." (Usually a Monday)
I'd be strict for a little while, marking my good days and bad days of eating. Until temptation would hit, like a piece of cake at a friend’s party or some chocolate after dinner.
I would gobble it down and then came the thought, “Screw it! I’ve blown it! I might as well go mad and make up for it tomorrow”.
That's when I'd drive alone to a shop to buy everything I was going to binge on. I still remember standing awkwardly in the supermarket aisle, trying to act normal, my basket full of biscuits, chocolate boxes, sandwiches, milkshakes, and crisps to take home to eat in secret.
And I'd eat and eat until I felt sick. Then came the guilt and shame: "How could I let this happen again? What's wrong with me?"
Until one breakdown moment changed everything, I tried something I'd never done before.
I stopped trying to control food with willpower and started doing the work underneath, combining Intuitive Eating with NLP and the cycle ended.
Finally the food chatter quieted and for the first time in two decades, food stopped being the thing that controlled me. My weight settling at its natural place was just an added bonus.
I'm now a Certified Intuitive Eating Facilitator and Associate NLP Practitioner, and I help women who feel like they can't stop eating, finally feel normal around food again.
